Frayed edges.

This poem is laid out with exact line breaks — it reads best on a larger screen or laptop. On a phone, long lines wrap to fit.

I want to reach out
Touch the edges of your dress
Run my fingers through the
overgrown parts of your old braids
As you fall asleep
To movies
You begged we watched together.
I want you to see me
Open my chest up
Pull out my center ribs
I get the sense it's too late
It's always been out of my control
Your love, my love.
